Workshops
Urushi workshops
Suzanne regularly holds workshops throughout Japan and the world. They are held in schools, arts institutions and are tailored for adults as well as children.
Workshops to experience the decorative techniques of maki-e on an urushi panel are available at Suzanne’s studio in Wajima for groups of 2-6 people. For larger groups it is possible to use the local community centre or materials can be brought in to provide workshops at other facilities. A lecture followed by a workshop makes a fun event.
Wajima tours and workshops
For educational purposes Suzanne can offer a limited number of local tours for those interested to know more about Wajima-nuri and the local history. A unique maki-e workshop can also be arranged as part of a tour or by itself. As this is an authentic experience, the workshop requires two hours and on completion you will have your own piece of original Wajima-nuri art to take home with you. All materials are provided but advanced booking is necessary.
